If you’re anything like me, the moment your phone battery heads into the 40% range, you start to panic.
There’s no need though. Always remember that if you’re near a Vodafone shop (and there are hundreds of them), you can get immediate access to a charger for your phone thanks to Chargebox.
Almost every Vodafone store has a Chargebox that will securely charge your beloved smartphone for as long as you want. When I get to Paddington Station and find that there’s a 40 minute wait for the train, I often stick my iPhone or BlackBerry into the Chargebox locker in the Vodafone shop on the concourse and stick in a quid. Over 30 minutes, that extra juice helps me do more stuff on the train journey.
It’s sometimes a bit of an arse trying to locate a Chargebox.
No longer.
Get yourself the ‘Low Battery’ app from Chargebox. It’s free and it just does one thing: It locates your nearest Chargebox.
Worth a download. Stick it at the back of your iPhone icons for when you need it.
You can pick up the app from iTunes here.
Sigh. One day companies will realise that mobile formatted web-sites are generally better than apps for delivering live content. After all, web-pages can be location aware (so nearest box can be found) so no loss of functionality, however the benefit is that almost all smartphones can use them, not just iPhones.
In the meantime, I guess I’ll just have to set up a wifi hotspot with my Desire so that my iPod can locate me a box.
Of course, with an iPhone you can pop into all sorts of shops and get a boost off the many, many docks, radios, speakers systems, and not pay for it?
