Nokia’s Sleeping Screen – really, really nice

Steve Litchfield over at All About Symbian posted a note this morning about Nokia’s all new (‘experimental’) Sleeping Screen system.

It’s gorgeous.

One of the best features of the Nokia N8 is the clock that is shown on the screen, even when it’s asleep. I simply love it. Right now on my desk there’s an iPhone and a BlackBerry. Both of their screens are dark. So I have no flipping idea what the time is. I have to actually press a button on either of them to get to the time. That is annoying. (The N8 clock screen uses ultra low power so there’s next to no battery impact.)

The team at Nokia Beta Labs are taking the clock screen concept even further with the introduction of ‘Sleeping Screen’. Have a look at the video:

I particularly like the battery charging animation.

I’m far from a Symbian^3 fan, but this idea is really great, I wonder when will someone make something similar for Android… ;)
