News: OPPO announces new mid-range, photo-focused F Series smartphones

Oppo F Series

Oppo recently confirmed that the “F1” will be the first in the new “F Series”, although there haven’t been many details revealed until recently. The new devices are however said to focus on the camera and come equipped with a 13-megapixel camera rear camera, which is pretty much the norm for mid-range phones these days.

However, the F1’s camera also features phase detection autofocus, hopefully resulting in superior quality images. As for the front camera, it’s reportedly an 8 megapixel model with an f/20 lens. Oppo’s PureImage 2.0+ is likely to power the camera, coming with a selection of modes and filters such as “Expert Mode”, “Double Exposure”, “Auto Panorama” and many more.

We still don’t have any details regarding which CPU the F1 will use (probably some kind of Qualcomm Snapdragon) but it’s also believed the new phones will come with a generous 3 GB of RAM, as well as possibly a 5-inch display.

The F series will be a core product series for OPPO in 2016.

According to Mr. Sky Li, OPPO Vice President and Managing Director of International Mobile Business, the F series will inherit the excellent camera performance and exquisite design tradition that have earned accolades for OPPO’s flagship series. “We are very excited to introduce the F series, which will allow an even wider range of users from all around the world to experience OPPO’s outstanding photography technology,” said Li.

  1. I wager my current phone, a Nokia Lumia 1020 and my previous phone, a Nokia 808 Pureview, will still take superior pictures to this! If all I wanted in a phone based camera was gimmicky software and lots of “modes” I would just buy an iPhone. Nope. This device is not the device I am looking for.
