My Top 7 apps: Tonia Baldwin of A1 Connect

It’s been awhile but I’m back with another Top 7 apps list. This week we have Tonia Baldwin from A1 Connect.

A1 Connect is a supplier of business mobile phones in the UK. It offers packages to sole traders, SMBs and large corporations with the goal of cutting communications bills and providing the perfect tariff for each individual company.

Let’s look through her list.

imageIF by IFTTT: I’m not sure where I’d be without IFTTT. I use it for setting up anything from reminders such as texts to remind me of meetings and let me know if it’s going to rain to automating sharing of company news and blog posts through social media. There’s almost no end to the number of recipes you can create and every one of them offers an easier day in some way or another.

MyFitnessPal: I spend a lot of the day sitting around or travelling to meetings. I want to know that this isn’t helping me put on weight or exercise less. MyFitnessPal is great as it lets me type in the food I’m having and gives me an honest answer to calorie intake and warns me when I’m getting dangerously close to straying from my target. It also lets me log my exercise and shows how many treadmill miles I have to put in to keep on track.

IMDb: When I’m not working I’m a huge fan of binging on TV and films. Even more so, I love quotes from the screen and spend about an hour a week reading through IMDb’s quotes from one of my favourite shows or movies. I’m also not ashamed to admit that I enjoy the odd dive into an actor/actress’ career and like to run through credits to find something they’ve been in that I didn’t know about.

Slack: Slack seems like any other messaging app but it’s far from it. I use it to stay connected to my colleagues and teams and it syncs with things like DropBox so any files or media that are sent across are automatically saved. It means that I’m always connected to the people who make our department tick and I have instant access to anything that I may need.

Spendbook: Sometimes I need reining in a little in terms of spending. Spendbook notes down exactly how much I’m dropping on clothes, food or anything else. I mainly use it for personal reasons but I have known others to use it for tracking business expenses when working out of the office so it really is a versatile little app.

Microsoft Remote Desktop: Mobile phones might be handheld computers but with Remote Desktop I can take my hardwired machine with me wherever I go. Things that I haven’t backed up to the cloud or made a copy of for one reason or another can be opened and displayed on the screen of my phone, making life that little bit easier for a sometimes forgetful soul.

Business Card Reader Plus: Being a B2B dealer, I’m forever giving and receiving business cards. When you collect a few a day they soon mount up to stack in not so short period of time. I use Business Card Reader Plus to store them electronically and it even means that I can sometimes give a card back safe in the knowledge I’ve got in on my phone to refer to, whenever I might need it.

Thanks to Tonia for her apps list. There’s a lot here that I use every day and a couple I have not used, one of them being Spendbook which I will download now.

You can find out more about A1 Connect on their website, twitter, facebook and Google+.
