About this site

Mobile Industry Review is an independent publication launched in January 2006 by Ewan MacLeod.

It began first as SMS Text News, focusing on the stories and announcements around the business of text messaging. There wasn't much else to talk about back then!

We were right there at the advent of the smartphone era, the launch of Android, the launch of iPhone and the good old days of Nokia, Symbian, BlackBerry and more.

I encourage you to search the archives to see if you can find our writing at key turning points for the mobile industry.

For example, try searching for: 'The Apple iPhone changes everything', for example, back in 2007 when the iPhone was announced. Or search for Nokia. Or BlackBerry.

We used to publish upwards of 10 posts every day, back in the heyday. These days the pace is more considered. The focus now is on opinion pieces with a genuine point of view, and Q&A interviews with the people actually building, running and shaking up the mobile industry. And if something genuinely grabs my attention, a launch, a deal, a development worth talking about, you'll still find me writing about that too. Less firehose, more signal.

If you've got a strong take worth sharing, or you're someone worth hearing from, I'd love to hear from you. Drop me a line below. If you're in PR, our For PRs page explains exactly what we publish and how to pitch.
