An 'artifical smartphone' that has no technical capabilities and is little more than a piece of black plastic in the shape of an iPhone is being trialled in a bid to reduce phone addiction. The artificial phone follows research revealing that one in 20 Britons see their smartphone 'as an extra limb' while 35% say they experience 'phantom vibration syndrome'. 

The artifical phones are being trailled as part of MORE TH>N’s Give Your Mobile The Boot campaign, which is encouraging drivers to put their mobiles in the boot of the car before their journey so they are not tempted to use them while driving.

MORE TH>N is seeking volunteers to use the artificial phones in place of their actual smarthpones for a week and to feed back their experiences.
