Iridium Networks in rude health

Iridium, the uber-mobile-network and Satellite telecommunications company have posted some wicked results today.

For anyone who thought ‘didn’t they go out of business?’, here’s living proof that they’re still operational. 38% increase in subscribers. Revenue up 28%. EBITDA Up 28 Percent. Up up up. That’s the way to go.

Total revenue in the second quarter 2008 was $81.7 million versus $66.7 million in the same quarter last year, a 22 percent increase. For the six-month period that ended June 30, 2008, Iridium posted $156 million in revenue, a 31 percent increase over the first half of 2007.

That’ll do nicely.

You aren’t a man until you’ve got an Iridium Satellite Phone.

Put one of their models next to any traditional mobile handset and I defy you not to want the Iridium one more. There is something reassuring about seeing the ‘Iridium’ prompt appear on the screen together with a satellite signal indicator.

Anywhere on the planet. Love it.

Iridium Satellite Phone arrives

Both Dan and I couldn’t get enough of this Iridium Satellite Phone that I’ve been sent for the Desert Island feature.

It doesn’t matter how much you look at your top of the range Nokia or fancy iPhone, the Iridium handset knocks everything else for six.

It works. Anywhere. Nice.
