I was talking to Stuart Dredge of PocketGamer (amongst other publications) about Nokia. His handset, the Nokia N81, was behaving like a dog.

He did the update on Windows Vista using the special patented method (i.e. telling Nokia Software Updater to run in Windows XP compatibility mode).

How is his handset performing now?

Shite.

Deary me. He thought he’d filled up the memory so he deleted everything. No. He flashed it and upgraded the firmware. Nothing.

Joy.

Time for a new handset, I reckon, Stuart?

My handsets sometimes do this. They just degrade into slow-as-crap behemoths over night. Not even a re-install helps.

Ghost in the machine.
