I’m quite staggered by the response from people to the post I published the other day, titled, “Are you looking for a shit-hot product manager?”

I posted after I got an email from a regular SMS Text News reader who wondered if I knew any companies who were hiring.

We’ve had a veritable avalanche of companies interested. And I’ve had follow-up emails from other executives wondering if I had a list of companies who are currently hiring.

Alas, I don’t.

But I’d like to put that list together. There is nothing worse than:

- Hunting for a job
- Hunting for a good person to hire

I’ve got experience of both and it’s really annoying. I can’t tell you how annoying it is, also, to resort to phoning up a recruitment agent who doesn’t know what SMS stands for or what ‘mobile’ constitutes. Or who doesn’t actually know anyone and spends 10 days arsing about before coming back with one candidate who worked for Phones4U once.

We’ve got a lot of smart folk reading SMS Text News, worldwide, on a daily basis, so I reckon we could probably do something here to solve the traditional arse of finding and recruiting people.

I’ve been mulling the possibilities of a job board on SMS Text News for a while but after being exposed continually to the coal face — the hard reality — of SMS Text News readers who are both hunting and hiring, I think we should see if we can help out.

If you are recruiting, could you let me know? I’ll post a link to you. If you’ve got the job roles, I’d like to experiment publishing a snapshot.

If you’re looking for a shit hot mobile product manager, there’s one going. He’s just become available, he’s been doing product management and related projects in mobile for a long time — he’d be an asset.

He dropped me a note to say hi and I said I’d post a note. He’d be great for a portal manager position, mobile marketing, content and the like. He’s UK based but that, I suspect, is flexible.
