QIK, probably the best mobile video streaming platform has hit the Blackberry platform this morning. The system is alpha and they’ve got it working on almost every modern Blackberry — including the Pearl, the Bold, the Curve and the new Pearl Flip (which is a piece of goodness in itself).

Founder Bhaskar is radiating sheer excitement on the QIK blog about this news. It’s understandable. A lot of folk simply can’t operate without their Blackberry and it’s often the primary device choice for many, so this should help grow the QIK user base even faster.

If you’re already a Qikker, get the Blackberry alpha here. Otherwise you can download and install QIK by signing-up as normal.

The developers, in the US and Russia, have been hard at work while sipping on some expresso, as the new release adds support for the following devices.

1. HTC Touch Dual

2. HTC Touch Diamond

3. HTC Touch Pro

4. HTC TyTn-II

5. AT&T Tilt

6. Sony Ericsson Xperia X1

The team also released an update for the iPhone version from 3.10 to 3.16 which adds location support and improved video quality. I’ve been using the service for quite some time now, and it’s been great so far. Of course, we here at MIR are great fans of the service too.

Though, the exact amount of the funding, expectedly, has not been disclosed.

Co-founder of the social network creator site Ning.com, Marc Andreessen, who just joined the Facebook Board Members has teamed up with Ben Horowitz, the VP and GM at Hewlett-Packard, to provide “significant investment” in the California based company. The Duo will also join the company as members of the board of advisors.

Qik is becoming immensely popular among the masses with its easy to install app and ability to start streaming within minutes. The site’s ability to integrate with popular social networks such as Twitter, MySpace and Orkut and even integrates with YouTube and Justin.tv

We, here, are great fans of Qik ourselves, having put it to use many a times. Citizen journalism is great fun in itself. Dan had covered the iPhone 3G launch in UK, while I was at the phone’s launch in India.

I was on QIK last night and this video popped up on the front page.

Heh. It was me. I was talking to him ;-) (Although, I wasn’t telling him he was gay.. Heh, that was some anonymous person)

I like it when I come across people testing out QIK for the first time and then they see text feedback from the internet on their handset.
