141,000 reasons why the UK mobile industry is nailed

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

I got the PhonePayPlus (the British Premium Rate regulator) newsletter in this morning.

More dire reading.

Another 141,000 pounds worth of fines.

Here is just one sample of the ‘breaches upheld’ (or the areas of issue) for one company:

Adequate Technical Quality, Fairness (Misleading), Inappropriate Promotion, Subscription Reminders

Is this still where everyone’s making real cash? Misleading and unfair trickery?

(Ok, so I added the 11th reason)

And if you are REALLY quick, there are still hotels available.

Jose mentions these examples:

* Catalonia Bristol – 3 star hotel located in Sant Andreu de la Barca – starting at €106 per night
* Campanille Barcelona – 3 star hotel located in Barbera del Valles – starting at €106 per night
* Gran Hotel Catalonia – 4 star hotel located in the Centre of Barcelona – starting at €280 per night

Those aren’t getting to SILLY prices yet — although the Gran Hotel Catalonia is getting there. Snap’em up quick.

One of the reasons we all ‘do a Google’

Thursday, November 27th, 2008

You have to wonder at the thinking behind whoever is actually running Yahoo.

Look at this. We’re getting bucketloads of traffic — BUCKETLOADS — from o2 customers hunting for the url http://www.o2.co.uk/surprises.

TONS of them are typing in: o2.co.uk/surprises

And they’re getting a surprise.

They’re getting two results from Yahoo: An article on mobiles2day.com and our piece here.

You’d think that the search engine would have the balls and the brains to actually suggest the website o2.co.uk as a possible alternative.

Searching for o2.co.uk is a dead giveaway…

This is why I use Google and only Google. I don’t want to waste time arsing around.

Bit of a shame for the all the o2 customers who made the mistake of using Yahoo. Anyway, WE linked to o2.co.uk. So eventually the customers get there.

Here’s the rubbish Yahoo spouts out when you search for o2.co.uk/surprises:

And the same term search in Google?

First, second, third, fourth, fifth link. And a nice little sponsored link too.

Dear me.
