This evening, after doing our ShoZu campaign videos (the introductory ones), Dan and Ben arrived.

“I want to discuss the N97,” he says, as he arrives.

“Sure,” I say, looking at Ben who is already nodding his head.

Within minutes the chaps are sat down in front of the camera and we’re getting to heated banging of tables. I take to raising my hand in the air after we’ve recorded a minute – the first five takes are all excellent, until one of the two makes another interesting point that diverts conversation or fluffs a line, stutters and … CUT.

The summary? Dan is a fan. He’s excited. He thinks the S60 followers – the die-hard Nohhhhkeeeahh fans – will love. Frothing at the mouth style.

Ben, on the other hand, thinks that the failure to innovate (“Look at every other competing OS, upgrade, continuous improvement”) may well send Nokia’s smartphone marketshare into freefall.

Still many more months until the N97 hits our shelves. In fact, it might just be going through testing right now at the Nokia Test Lab we visited the other week. We will have the vid up shortly!

Dan Lane and Ben Smith were on the scene with me behind the camera to capture the joy.

Our joy tripled when we noticed Del Boy — replete with his rather old brick of a mobile. I kid ye not…. !

Here, then, is the exclusive look at the all new iMovio iKit device. It’s intended as a mobile companion device to work alongside your average RAZR or Nokia S40 handset. The target market is very much teenagers and youth who aren’t in the market for an expensive smartphone, but who would like easy internet browsing, IM and email, without having to grapple with the on-device rubbish.

We also visit the Digital Winter event and catch some really, really funky mobile charging equipment (I really like the idea of having a £300 mobile powerstation wherever I am) and, amongst others, you can see the chaps literally lusting after the new Sennheiser bluetooth headset and base station.

Since James was abroad on business for SpinVox most of the week, we had to film without him, thus it falls to me to say:

Cue up MIR Show 42… and roll credits!

We recorded Monday’s MIR Show last night and it’s going to be a slight departure from the norm, I think.

We had a whole schedule planned — but the chaps got stuck with the Poloroid PoGo bluetooth printer so I kept the camera on as Dan Lane and James Whatley bickered with each other for about 35 minutes, trying to get the device to work.

I haven’t done the edit, but I think I might keep quite a lot of their shenanigans in. It really is a super example of not-reading-the-manual.

Ben Smith couldn’t be with us for filming — Ed Hodges of Howler Tech gallantly agreed to step in. Thank you for that Ed.

The following week, however, most of us — bar Dan (he’s staying in London) — are out of the country. James is in Helsinki with Nokia (“the mothership”). I’m in San Francisco at CTIA Wireless and Ben Smith is in Beijing. We’ll still be able to bring you a packed show. Oh yes. We’ve done a lot of work on that.

So this Monday, expect a brand new episode of the MIR Show. Then, across the week, expect a varied amount of updates — textual and video — from the team.

I’ve got interviews with companies every hour from 7am ’til 9pm daily next week. I’m going to try and film them all — and try and get some stuff up on the site as well.
