Rome. We’re off to Rome tomorrow morning at the unlikely time of 7.30am. Unlikely because I suspect we’d all very much rather be in bed at that time on a Saturday morning. Let alone having to worry about being at the airport two hours before.

The MIR Show team is heading to Rome to produce January’s show and you can find more details about that here.

Over the weekend we’re going to be showing off the best of ShoZu. That is, we’ll be saying ‘screw it’ to our roaming data bills (I *must* dig out my 3UK sim card… where is it?) and doing ShoZu uploads big time.

My handset of choice happens to be the most popular handset with ShoZu installed: iPhone.

I reckon that the iPhone camera will be fine in bright sunny Rome. I further reckon that we’ll also use the MIR Posterous system to send some commentary and imagery directly to the site over the weekend.

If you’d updates and oh-shit-where-is-my-passport-style real time live updates, follow us on Twitter:

A vertiable who’s who is heading to the ICA’s Nash Room tomorrow night in London to ‘powwow’ about the Every Single One Of Us concept initiated by Jonathan MacDonald.

Every Single One Of Us is a communications movement with a vision to enable and enhance interaction between people and commerce, aiming to safeguard user experience.

The event on Thursday (details here) will have perspectives from the following:

- Tomi Ahonen
- Peggy Anne Salz
- Dominic Travers
- Vikki Chowney
- James Whatley
- Alfie Dennen
- Andrew Grill

It starts at 6.15pm. But, er… due to travel commitments I don’t think I’ll get there bang on time so I’ll probably have to stand through it all. Annoying, but, you know – it’s worth going.

Look forward to seeing you there.

The other week, I headed to a deserted car park at 11pm in the evening in North London. There was one other car — a long wheelbase Mercedes with darkened windows — parked waiting for my arrival on the 5th floor of the multistorey, engine still running, headlights off.

A chap in an overcoat was standing by the car’s open door and as I pulled up, he walked over to me and passed an unmarked padded envelope in through my opened window.

“Your instructions for the visit,” he said, before turning smartly away.

Within seconds the car was gone and I was alone.

I ripped open the envelope as my pulse rate quickened. Inside there was a single A4 sheet.

From the like of my N95, I saw the page was completely blank except for this:

0870 521 3232. 8am. 19-11-08. 112345-998407.

So, I’m going to phone that number tomorrow (Wednesday) at precisely 8am to get my next set of instructions.

If there’s phone signal, I’ll try and update you via Ping.fm, provided they don’t take my Blackberry off me when I arrive.

I’m meeting with Jeff Taylor who runs Marketing and Kevin Johnstone who is the product and UI genius.

I’ll be filming the interview — and in a departure from the norm, I’m even taking the tripod.

If you’ve got any questions you’d like to put to the INQ chaps, then now is the time. I’ll also get some close-up shots of the device itself.

Then I’m off to see ShoZu, I’m talking with the top chap from IMI Mobile, I’m doing some hardware review pieces and then the MIR Show guys should be popping by to discuss the all new Nokia E63. It’s a busy one!

And if you’d like to see the photos from today’s INQ launch — check out Rob’s piece.

You remember the Private Mobile Network Unit that I took to the Maldives?

Well Jay Fenton has produced a brilliant review that’s coming our way tomorrow morning.

Jay is one of the world’s foremost experts on telephony. And that sort of thing. It’s actually hard to specifically identify where his skills begin and end. Yes he knows telephony back to front, but he’s also a bit of a programming genius too (he’s the guy who knocked up a Symbian blog editor for me in 60 minutes).

Jay is the chap mentioned now and again by his colleague Dan Lane in our weekly Mobile Industry Review Show video. (They both work at Howler Tech). In fact, I think Jay is mentioned this week. We’ve had him on one of the podcasts a while ago — we’ll need to get him on the video soon.

I was delighted when Jay said he’d be able to take the time to review the PMN and give us his perspective. Standby for the piece tomorrow.
