o2’s Streetmap advertising

o2’s Streetmap

I keep seeing this poster all over central London — on the transport network in particular. At first I wondered what the good people at www.streetmap.co.uk were doing, limiting their mobile audience to just o2.

However all is explained when you go to the Streetmap site and click ‘Streetmap on o2’. This image pops up and explains that o2 customers get service at no additional cost for 3 months.

Super marketing for Streetmap. As for making me want to become an o2 customer… well, I’ve already struggled with the full size Streetmap many-a-time with an XDA, Blackberry or similar — and not got very far.

I have an o2 sim somewhere, I’ll chalk this down as a thing-to-look-at.

Meantime I’ve just been using Google Maps. That, or calling Hetty and asking her to patiently guide me to the right street whilst she stares at the map on the web.

  1. yes, striking imagery, but confusing cos it’s actually Lisbon! The large towerblock on the right is the Hotel Tivoli Tejo where I stayed recently, and right opposite & yet strangely missing from the picture is the Lisbon HQ of o2 competitor, Vodafone!
