Broadtexter.com enables text alerts for MySpace Bands

Link: Broadtexter – Text Alerts for MySpace Bands – Mashable!.
Check out this rather wicked review of Broadtexter on Mashable:

NYC-based Broadtexter is a new service that allows musicians to send text alerts to fans using a module for MySpace. Artists and bands sign up with the service, then post the flash widget on MySpace, their own website or one of the hundreds of social networks that support Flash embeds (Friendster, Piczo, hi5, Blogger etc). The module allows fans to enter their name, mobile phone number, carrier and region and receive text alerts at standard rates. What’s more, the modules are customizable: artists can create their own color combinations to blend in with their site. Bands can send alerts via a phone or the web, and the service costs $14.50/month – less if you pay yearly. There’s also a 30-day free trial.

  1. It says it all that there’s no UK version of this right now. What are we playing at!

if anyone’s interested in working on something like this with a UK short-code give us a shout through the blog

  2. Thanks for the write-up! One particularly cool feature I would like to highlight is that Broadtexter solves the problem of sending REGIONALIZED text messages to fans…RIGHT FROM A CELL PHONE (because sometimes an artist just can’t get to a computer between gigs). Broadtexter’s unique regional text alert feature gives musicians tremendous power when it comes to touring and promotion. Enabling bands to remind fans in a specific area about a specific show the day-of a show has had proven results that our users have truly praised us for. Thanks! – The Broadtexter Team
