TxtLocal.com brings SMS services to small & medium sized companies

Picture_18_3Came across the TxtLocal.com press release and thought it was worth making a note about what they’re up to.  It looks like a pretty general ‘hi, we’re here’ release.

Although text marketing is ideal for SMEs such as nightclubs, take-away restaurants, hair salons, retailers and garages, other providers have spurned the sector, concentrating on big businesses. Txtlocal is ensuring every business can now tap into this marketing revolution.

If you’ve any interest in this area, they’re definitely worth knowing about.  I’m a huge fan of any company working to make sure I can FINALLY whack a text to the local hairdressers to see if I can get an appointment.   This is, if you like, the ‘last mile’ in SMS marketing.  It’s all very well having big (stupid?) brands using mobile marketing — but where the real value, day to day, for us all, is in being able to use the medium to do ‘stuff’.  Book hair appointments. Change your sports massage appointment from the train.  Get a plumber out.  Receive special offers from your local gym.  Sign-up to get ‘we’re not busy, come and get a good deal’ alerts from your favourite local restaurant.   That sort of thing.  So go for it, TxtLocal — and everyone else in this space.

The TxtLocal MD is Darren Daws on 0845 009 3180.
