The Sun newspaper has launched a User Generated Content initiative which allows mobile users to submit content and interact with its brand via the Short Code 63000. The Short Code, provided by MX Telecom, is provisioned for SMS, MMS, Voice and Video on all of the UK networks, and as such is the World’s first truly ‘Unified’ Short Code.
Very, very impressive stuff. This is the sort of thing the market has been needing for years. I remember being really excited at the prospect of being able to send a picture message to a shortcode. Smart. It’s now a case of educating the users — however I doubt it will take them long to clock it, especially with the likes of The Sun plastering their shortcode, 63000, all over the place! Kudos to MX.
