I’m feeling Blyk starved

After the rather exciting launch, I am feeling starved of information about the UK’s ad-funded MVNO, Blyk.

I keep meaning to phone’em up and have a chat. I still haven’t managed to make the time. I’ve also been really annoying my younger brother, Fraser, demanding he get a Blyk account so I can check it out.

He tells me, with a slightly sulken, weary voice, that he’s ‘already registered’ and ‘is waiting for them to send the invitation’.

Note to self: Call’em, find out how things are going

  1. I got my invitation code last week, and signed up straight away! Seems the registration process checks with the electoral roll or similar official databases to confirm the users age.

Though they only send the sim to official address… I live in new student halls and always have problems with companies locating my address (Building not on postal database yet I guess). So alas the sim has been delivered to my home address (130 miles away) and here I am wondering when I will be able to pick it up.

  2. Got my Blyk sim in the post today.

One rather rubbish “feature” of the service is it appends an advert for Blyk to the end of every text message you send. Don’t seem to remember reading about that anywhere before…

Other than that it all seems to work pretty well. Haven’t actually received any adverts yet either.

  3. I have a Blyk Sim as my additional phone. Have had it a few months now as I was interested in how they work! But I’m a little confused? Shouldn’t we recieve upto 4 messages PER DAY??? Just its because I may get 1 maybe 2 MMS a day about 3or 4 days a week?
Reading sum other comments seems i’m not the only 1 not recieving much.
