A year ago, the Lincolnshire County Council spent 12,000 pounds setting up a project designed to reduce teenage pregnancy and the spread of Sexually Transmitted Diseases. Teens are encouraged to text in their queries regarding contraception, virginity, STDs, and homosexuality, to receive an answer from one of the “agony aunts.”
To maintain confidentiality, callers’ numbers were not stored, and inquiries too complicated to be addressed via SMS were given the national freephone Sexwise number to call. The service responded to more than 1,000 teens, and might be copied in Nottinghamshire and Rutland in the near future.
I like this kind of stuff. This along with the Text 4 Free Condoms story recently really demonstrates how you can use this digital space to help solve real problems.
Couple those two with the find-a-loo service…..
