Any new clients, ANYTHING going on?

It’s one of those weeks.

Some weeks, I’m bombarded by press release after press release, often really only one-liners, stretched out to fit a full page. Other weeks — like this week — nothing.

I was contemplating phoning up some mobile companies and asking them to tell me what (publicly disclosable) client projects they’re working on. All too often I keep on hearing about excellent client and case study news months after the fact.

Given that SMS Text News covers — or, at least, aims to cover — mobile industry news, with a smattering of opinion, if you’re working in the industry, drop me a note and let me know what you’re doing this weekend so I can tell the world. Or standby for a phone call.

  1. Hi Ewan, we soft launched some new functionality this morning over at the Mippin offices. It is called MippinToday and sits at the top of the Mippin homepage. MippinToday gathers together all the most recent updates from all of your favourite sites on the Mippin service into one handy page for quick and easy access. If you already use Mippin you can also directly access MippinToday at http://mippin.com/today on your mobile phone, it makes a great bookmark for those little breaks in the day when you want to catch up on what’s been going on.

  2. Hi Ewan,
Proteus recently launched Swift, a self-service tool for creating professional-grade mobile websites. My apologies for not sending you the press release already! We’re really excited about this product and its potential as a game-changer in the industry. The free Consumer version has received lots of interest from the blogosphere already, while FOX News is our pilot partner for the Enterprise version (see: http://election.swiftmob.com on your mobile phone). You can read the press release at http://proteus.com/news/?p=87 and our Swift blog at http://blog.swiftmob.com.

We’ve got quite a few exciting projects going on with big media clients in addition to continued enhancements for Swift (both publicly and under embargo). I’d be happy to share with you some case studies or set up some time to speak with our president, Guy Vidra. Drop me a line anytime or call me at 202-452-6800!

  3. Qire Launch New weapon to fight Card Fraud

Qire the leading specialist in intelligent voice messaging has developed a product to help prevent fraud over the internet.
The system gives an additional level of security – customers register their mobile or land-line telephone number with their bank and every time they use their card they are automatically rung to confirm that they are using their card. If there is a problem they can be transferred immediately to a fraud investigator.
Phil Simmonds from Qire commented ‘There has been a great deal of interest from the banks regarding this new technology. This additional level of security will make the bank’s customer feel safer’
Despite the introduction of chip and pin cards there has been a 25% increase in the level of fraud, Qire are confident that this additional level of security will help prevent further frauds.

  4. Qire sounds cool. Not sure if it’s their solution, but Egg (one of my credit card providers) did this at the weekend when I mad a large online purchase. A big confidence builder!
