If you’ve been looking nervously at Greece over the past few years, wondering when their mobile industry would evolve a little to make it relevant for your services, now is the time to look again.
With mobile penetration approaching 140% and, roughly x3 more mobile traffic than any other European territory (so reports WIN Plc), the country represents an untapped market.
But, previously, it’s been quite an arse to work there. Subscription-based services, the jewel in the crown of many a mobile entrepreneur, were nigh-on-impossible to implement previously — because billing was always, always mobile originated (MO). You had to wait until the customer sent you a text before you could bill them. Not good. Not good if I want the weather delivered to me every morning by text.
That’s all changed though. Mobile Terminated (MT) billing is now live and WIN Plc could well be your supplier of choice for Greece. They’ve opened an office there and now have local knowledge and a heckuvalot of media contacts should you require them.
The person to talk to at WIN Plc Greece is Kerstin Trikalitis. Kerstin has been overseeing some impressive results from WIN’s customers already operating in Greece with many already exceeding their KPIs. Music to everyone’s ears, eh?
Let’s hear from Kerstin:
“We love our mobiles in Greece, believe me it’s hard to get us off them. Our obsession is something WIN clients are already reaping benefits from. Early reports suggest high growth curves for the first wave of companies using us to deliver subscription based services; and we’re expecting a lot more enquiries in the months and year to come.”
And what’s Graham Rivers, CEO of WIN, thinking?
“To remain competitive in this business you’ve got to see things from the eyes of your customer. International development is a must and we need to make it easy for them. The Greek market is a big opportunity for our customers to increase their revenue; most people in Greece have more than one phone and they have a ferocious appetite for content. In fact, Greece is such a prime market that I wouldn’t be surprised if some of our competitors start using us for connectivity in the interim.”
Indeed. Have you thought about Greece recently? Got anything live there yet?
