Kizoom’s iPhone web application is a joy

I’ve been playing with Kizoom.mobi. That’s the address you need for UK train times when you’re on the go. Type it in to your phone and it’ll work beautifully — type it in to your iPhone and it’s even better.

The Kizoom chaps, now owned by CitySpace, have created a customised iPhone design. It’s a real joy to use.

In under 5 seconds, I was able to find out that, if I left London in 20 minutes, I could be in Edinburgh at 1733. No changes.

kizoom

Here’s a bit more information from the Kizoom chaps themselves:

Kizoom.mobi out-classes other timetable-only services by delivering free and easy-to-navigate real-time rail timetables, fast journey planning, taxi finder, disruption news and route stops – a really useful bundle of travel services for people on the move.

Already a popular service for mobile phone users via the five major mobile operators, the new iPhone interface provides the unique ability to personalise commonly used destinations by bookmarking departures and arrivals giving users easy access via icons on the iPhone home screen. The service can also list all the stops along the route so you can see whether the selected train is a fast or slow service.

I’ve added it to my iPhone bookmarks.

  1. How annoying! I needed this on Friday.

Just my luck I find out about something I actually need just after I need it.

Looks good though, I will be testing it out later.

    Samantha.

  2. I have known Nick Knowles (CTO) from my Nokia days. Kizoom was his baby from when he started it out of the back room from his house. An inspirational developer & business man and it shows. It's a great leap from the old WAP product on a Nokia 7110 but I knew there was something special about Kizoom from the first call he made.
Great to see Kizoom's on the iPhone Nick. Here's wishing the best of fortune for Cityspace.

  3. Got a chance to test it on the way home from work this evening… Decided not to look at the train board, instead just using the site. There's 4 possible platforms I could leave from, and the site managed to tell me the quickest way to Wimbledon.. Thumbs up for kizoom, weird name though..

Live train info could win this site awards…

  4. Great service but it's next to useless for me as it only covers national rail and not TFL (so no tube!)

I really hope they get TFL data in there soon as TFL's own mobile site (tflwap.gov.uk) is horrible from the iPhone
