I purchased a Vodacom Modem while in South Africa. I was told it would work in the UK and USA. However, in the USA, I would need to find a Sims card that would convert over to data in order for the modem to work on the Internet. Does anyone know where I can purchase a sims card in the USA or that would work in the USA, that would convert over to data in order for me to use my Modem? If I am right, and if I could convert it over – perhaps I could access the Internet using my Vadacom Modem.

Any help dear MIR readers?
Well, definitely you'd want to check the bands to make sure that the modem supported U.S. frequencies (850/1900 for GSM, and also the same for HSDPA on AT&T's network). If so, AT&T offers a prepaid sim package that can have data added to it for $19.99 a month (unlimited). It's not very well publicized, but if you go into an AT&T store and get a prepaid package, then call the number you use to add more minutes, there is an option to add the 19.99 a month data package as well. This is *technically* intended to use in a broadband modem, so they may boot you off if your usage is really high, but it should work.
