I can’t tell you how pleased I am that my newest handset purchase — the Samsung ACE from Sprint — works perfectly fine on Vodafone UK. It’s a CDMA/GSM handset — which is why I bought it — only to find out that I didn’t have the right account settings in order to use it abroad.
Phew.
It was looking like a totally wasted purchase. But they haven’t locked it, it seems.
That’ll do nicely.
Oh wow so glad I ran across this.
You probably don't have the phone anymore, but I was wondering if I could ask you if it worked on Vodafone Pay-As-You-Go Sim cards?
My dad lives in America and Mums in England so I want just one phone to use for both, but like you I don't have the right Sprint plan for it. So it would be amazing if I could just swap over the Sims every time I hop over the big pond.
Also, what was call quality like? I don't have to worry about data plans or anything (have an iPod for that) but I'd like to be able to text and call mum from the airport on my one and only sprint phone.
James, I do have the phone, I have just have to find — and get it charged — then I can test this out for you. That said, if it worked on a contract Vodafone sim, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work on a Vodafone PAYG sim.
Oh that's great. I checkedthe specs and it runs off the GSM network
used all throughout the UK so I bet PAYG would work perfectly. I
recently heard the Ace 2 should be out by Q3 this year. So I can
either pick up an updated version, or the old version quite cheaply.
Yay :).
