SIM free iPhone seen just as we’re about to board the plane back to Blightly.
Although not really in the remit of NokiaWorldWatch, we thought we’d bring you this shot seeing as it’s still almost part of the press event.
Also not actually having seen an unlocked Apple handset before it piqued our interest, just as it would many others so we thought we’d share it with you guys.

Gosh. That IS tempting. Very smart retailing.
Who's got a spare €800 these days?
The reason the 3G ones flew out the door was the drastic up-front price cut. Apple have been forced, kicking and screaming to sell SIM-free in a number of markets, but I doubt they have sold 1 for every 100 on contract.
Even doing the TCO maths, you still need that wedge up front to realise the savings – and most people don't.
Maybe someone could go ask a shop attendant?

€800 for a phone? Dream on.
I had the same reaction to that new Nokia the other day at €500-odd.
I coming more around to the INQ way of thinking.
I'd feel really worried at putting 800 euro in a machine…!

You can buy an unlocked one in Italy or Greece for Euro 569. You can use the rest of the money to get a return flight and you will be still left with spare change for a snack.
Seriously though, isn't Euro 800 too steep?
