We’ve been huge, huge fans of Skydeck for a while. Yes we’ve not been able to use it (since we’ve been stuck in England) but we’ve been watching the service grow and officially launch in the States for some time now.
We were delighted to be able to sit down with Jason and find out more about Skydeck — and particularly when they’re coming to Europe.
Once again, take a coffee, sit back and watch this one, particularly if you’ve got an interest in the mobile social networking.
Here’s the vid:

Sounds like what Zyb should have been, shame Vodafone spent so much money on a damn SyncML company.
Shame he couldn't show us a demo either, sounds like a fantastic service.
European operators are more forward thinking and progressive than American operators, woo woo!
why does the video crap out at 8 minutes and 38 seconds when viewed in HD mode … ? trying regular mode now.
It's a fault with Vimeo's encoding, I think. I'm uploading it again…

yeah, liked that one, but funnier was the following reference to one dinosaur being faster than another 🙂
working now
humm, hope they are going to support more popular/common handsets once they leave the US!
according to the Help page on the site, only Blackberry and Android are supported!
…and thanks to Jason for being one of the coolest guys (and easiest to interview) I've spoken to to-date.
Thanks for posting this, I enjoyed the interview a lot.
Mike, just to clarify, if you want all the features of Skydeck, you need a Blackberry, Android, or (very soon) a Windows Mobile phone. But we provide some level of support for almost every phone in the US – whether or not we can get data from your operator billing system, which is a separate issue – and as we launch in other countries we'll support the most popular devices in each market. For example, Symbian support is critical in the UK, but it's only 1/2 of 1% of phones in the US.
