Try out the all new Ovi Maps this Easter

Apparently it’s Easter soon. My wife just told me. Who knew? Easter is one of those periods that has simply arrived in front of me, rather than been anticipated, throughout my working life.

Thankfully Wikipedia explains that Easter is officially based around Sunday April 4th.

At Easter, of course, quite a few people start traveling. If you’re planning a trip, may I prompt you to give Nokia’s Ovi Maps the time of day and check it out? I’m pretty sure they’ve got you covered. The all new version recently released offers:

– Free turn-by-turn voice guided walk and drive navigation available for 74 countries in 46 languages, as well as detailed maps for over 180 countries
F- ree premium content, including access to Lonely Planet and Michelin travel guides for over 1,000 world-wide destinations with listings for sights, restaurants, hotels, shops, nightlife and more
– Integrated recommendations, so whether you are looking for the best coffee shop, a top museum or a hidden gem only the locals know about, the guides will make sure you find your way.
– No need to know the street names – just search for ‘coffee’ and the top venues near you pop up.
– Maps can also be pre-loaded, saving time and money on data charges, so once maps are on your phone you can find what you want when you want it

Put that in your TomTom and smoke it.

Give it a go on any long journeys you’ve got planned and let me know how you get on?

  1. how about they start by enabling the 6210 Navigator for free ovi maps! its a FP2 phone and sold to be just that, a navigator! if the 6710 gets it there is no reason why the 6210 shouldn’t get it.

nokia does something great and then they go ahead and piss off millions of their customers simply by not allowing all their customers to profit from it. thats just a stupid decision and i will buy the next iphone as soon as it gets out because i’m fed up with this sh** from nokia!

  2. Thanks Ewan, sounds like Nokia & Ovi maps have really got stuck in. I'll definitely take time to give this a whirl. I have just bagged a replacement phone from Orange after 6 months protracted arguments – and 15 years loyalty (including insurance) but it was the high end Nokia Arte, a poor phone for anything other than stinging Orange on the subsidy aspect. So as it happens I'm also due an upgrade (how handy!), which I will implement as soon as I know which handset to go for. Its only between the 5230 and X6 – as these are the only Nokia phones with Sat Nav available through Orange. That said I'd hate to miss out on any new contenders such as the SE XperiaX10, but I said the same thing about the P800 a few years back. Hey at the time it all made sense. So whadya think?
Its great to feel the renewed energy around the mobile space as of late and I'm as chuffed as you that Nokia are seeing the light and starting to capitalise on their excellent brand and as of yet untapped ability. Keep up the good work, your the best app on my iPhone for keeping plugged in. Though it can be a little buggy, that may be issues with the iPhone not the app.
    Cheers Jay
