James Parton writing over at IT Pro Portal has discovered a genius little app.
It’s called “iHi” — and it’s really, really simple. Here’s the description James uses:
Put simply, iHi is super simple visual communication. You can pick from a list of pre set words or phrases:
When selected, the phrase is displayed as a striking white Arial font on black background for maximum contrast and visual impact.
The free version is limited to a few phrases. Upgrade to the premium version and you can type in your own messages.
But, let’s just stop there. Watch this video and toward the end, the value of the app will be come clear — especially the reaction of the girl once she gets off the tube. Trust me:
Every success to the chap behind the concept, Neil Stanley.
Here’s Neil himself introducing the app:
Pick up iHi+ on iTunes for £1.49.
What.. wait.. really? I must admit the video with the girl made me LOL – as I wasn’t expecting that ending. But – I’m not sure I understand the point, it comes across as a bit creepy really. The translator app I can understand, but the whole ‘putting a message’ on the screen and showing it to someone (like on the tube) is a bit weird.

I don’t think I’d use it with third parties, but I could imagine using it in a meeting, definitely 😉
Perfect for when you have several people in a room dialed into a conference call!
Most definitely!
You probably can do it with a Quick Office or Doc To Go with a black background and white text. But it’s a great little idea!
Ate it’s the convenience!
Please someone make one for android!
