Stop everything and get your free 50GB Box.net account

I had cause to download the Box.net iPhone client today just to check it out. I’d already registered a business trial account and then I saw the message below. As per the message there, everyone gets a free 50GB Box.net account of you register via the app. I tried this out and I can confirm it works. This offer is apparently valid until 2nd of December.

  1. the one problem with box.net is on their 50gb free account there is no desktop sync, and no way to get all
your data into the cloud.. totally useless… i am not going to manually upload all my data 1 file at a time.
    back to dropbox or sugarsync.

  2. oh really on the free 50gb accounts? not that i can find. the 50gb and basic 2gb accounts are severely crippled. please prove me wrong. i have the 2gb free account, and upgraded to the 50gb account. all is good. however i only have access to upload my files from my mobile devices. there is NO WAY to sync from DESKTOP mac/pc to the new 50gb account at this time. effectively making it useless. To get desktop sync to work with this new free 50gb account I need to upgrade my free account to BOX BUSINESS for 45 dollars a month PER PERSON. ok thanks box.net u goto the dust bin of uselessness. back to dropbox. i am NOT trying to rubbish their offer, but giving people access to their data only from the mobile devices and not allowing us to get the data to them quickly and efficiently from out desktop is misleading, dishonest and down right frustrating. so thanks for the 50gb i can’t be arsed to use because i am not going to upload my files to box.net 1 file at a time from my desktop… FAIL

  4. Ahh.. it all sounded impressive until I saw ‘weirdshanghai’s post! Whilst it is expensive I’m still a massive fan of Dropbox, it just works. I did toy with SugarSync but it just didn’t feel ‘right’.
