7,000 iPads rolling out across US airport restaurants

I think this is a very, very good idea:

Nationwide restaurant operator OTG is deploying more than 7,000 third-generation iPads at its eateries located in three international air hubs after recognizing a strong demand for entertainment in the normally staid airport environment.

via iPads on the menu as airport restaurateur goes hi-tech.

There are multiple benefits that come to mind immediately:

– I like the idea of being able to plug-in easily rather than having to sit on the floor next to an electrical socket
– Being able to order (and pay for?) food from the restaurants rocks
– If you’ve just got your smartphone to hand, you might want to use the bigger iPad screen to check out the news

Smart.

I hope we’ll see this approach in a lot more venues such as airports worldwide.
