ROK's FreeBe TV records 600k hits and mobile TV audience of 9k in 4 weeks
I heard from a rather excited Bruce Renny over at ROK, the mobile TV people. He was telling me that their new service, FreeBe TV, is ‘going like a rocket’ — which is hardly surprising. I’m seeing quite a lot of pent up demand from people wanting to try out Mobile TV on their handsets without necessarily having to upgrade or buy special packages.
The Freebe UK and US sites have tracked 600k hits and an audience of 9,000 in just four weeks from over 120 countries. Get in! You can now get FreeBe TV on your PC too. Just point your browser at the relevant link (UK or US) above and have a play. They’re got quite a range of channels now.
I think it’d be quite interesting to see if they could do some deals with some podcast video or videocast owners looking to widen their audience. That could be a source of reasonably good content — and a load of promotion. For example, I wonder if Rocketboom would do a deal to launch a Rocketboom TV channel? If ROK provided the plumbing, Rocketboom might well provide marketing to their hundreds of thousands of viewers — many of which may want to get Rocketboom on their handset!
If you’ve got your own video clips, whack’em over to the FreeBe team and they’ll make you famous. They’re in the process of putting together “You Made It” — a user-generated content TV channel. More details here.
