These all new glasses from Vuzix just went to the top of my must-have tech list.
They’re called Wrap 1200 and they’re the ultra-latest from Vuzix, offering an equivalent experience to a 75″ screen viewed from 10ft. Love it. They operate at 16:9 –and 2x AA batteries will keep you going for up to three hours of video playback.
They’re also 3D-compatible! Plus, they support standard display resolutions of up to 1280 x 720 — so you can plug’em into your laptop using the included VGA connectivity. 24-bit colour, obviously.
It’s not just VGA though. Oh no. These ones will plug straight into your iPhone or iPod Touch without having to buy any extra adapters. Precisely what I need when I’m on the plane. I am particularly enamoured by the fact they also come with detachable noise-isolating stereo headphones.
Price? Well, the recommended retail is £399 — understandable, given the amount of high-tech stuff squeezed into such a small package.
I really, really do like the idea of using these when on the plane or the train — I don’t like having folk ogling over my shoulder at what I’m watching/doing.
Plus, they look very cool indeed.
I would like to see them in use before i thought about purchasing a pair, although my wife would not thank me for getting them…
Agreed, Andrew! (on both counts)
(I’ve seen some older models which were pretty nifty)
These, plus Sports Tracker, that would make my biking moments absolutely crazy. Add some Layar AR so that I can see and interact with pieces of data during the ride and I’d be a mini-Minority Report/Demolition Man waiting to happen.
That would rock
