It’s been a hectic morning at Future of Mobile which kicked off today. You can follow much of the action on Twitter, but we’ve been grabbing interviews with everyone we can which we’ll put up over the next few days.
There’s an excellent range of speakers - Rich Miner is currently on stage presenting on Android and Google Gears, but Doug Richards of Trutap also impressed earlier with an thoughtful discussion of emerging markets… the killer quote “if you read the web you’d think everyone in India was using using a $50 handset to check the price of cereals… they’re not. If you went to a cocktail party in Mumbai they’d be quite indignant about that…” He also announced a new version of their IM application.
Jemima Kiss from the Guardian and our own Ewan Macleod told it like it is in the first blogger session alongside James Whatley, Vero and Andrew Gill - there’s more to come later in the day. It’s nice to see such a mix on stage.
Right now David Wood, Executive Vice President of Symbian, is asking the man from Google about handset compatability… where else can you see that?
Mobile Industry Review Show - Episode 24
Monday, September 1st, 2008And thus, here is the 24th Mobile Industry Review Show episode. For those who aren’t paying close attention — for clarity, we’re numbering the episodes literally. Thus last week’s episode was numbered 22 and the trailer we published was numbered 23. So that’s us on 24.
And it’s a special one. Packed to the rafters. The key focus is the Sony Ericsson party including a chat with their UK Marketing Director, David Hilton. We take a hands-on look at the W595 and, of course, the Xperia (with which James Whatley was rather taken).
Then we focus on the upcoming Future of Mobile event with a brief chat to event producer, Dominic Travers. We’ve actually got a good 10 minutes of briefing from Dominic so we’ll publish the full version nearer the time. Key message: Get your tickets now, while they’re still 145 pounds. They’ll go up in price by 100 quid shortly.
Look out for a cameo from Ed Hodges of Howler Tech.
