Nokia’s E90 replacement leaked

nokia-e75-05

High quality images have appeared online of the E75, rumoured to be the scheduled replacement of the Nokia E90.

Sweden’s mobile news website Daily Mobile has done it again and managed to get their hands on the E75, said to be the next handset in the famed linage of the Nokia Communicator product line up.

They’ve brought us some rather detailed, high quality images of the newest of the new Smartphone lined up against the E71 for a size comparison. The photos do not show off the QWERTY keyboard, as that’s not one to be seen in that region. Instead the QWERTZ model does go some way to indicate what the handset should look like, when it arrives.

It’s been a while since the last Communicator was released, in fact the last one was aired at the very first Mobile World Congress in Barcelona when it was still called 3GSM, after its relocation from Cannes. No promises have been made if we’ll see the E75 this year, plus Nokia are not one to ‘comment on speculation or rumour’ although we are hoping to see it soon *cough*

There’s a huge array of pictures here, and from every possible conceivable angle too. Do visit the site to behold the wonderment of the E75.

If this truly is the phone set to be the next Communicator it lacks the feel of the previous models, whilst at the same time almost being a complete subset of what’s come before.

We were hoping they’d still keep up the large screen in the new model, which is darn useful for everything from surfing, texting, and emailing. Instead, Nokia has gone with a much smaller screen, one very similar to the outer display of the E90 only a tad larger.

The length or height looks to be a good 2 centimetres shorter than the E90’s, initially giving off the impression of a more compact phone than beforehand. In seeing the mobile head to head against the E71, it does appear to be somewhat thicker than the previous Communicator which could negate the compactness it obtains by the smaller body.

Its keyboard is much smaller than the E90, as it’s lost the application quick launch buttons and also the d-pad. The latter of which we’re assuming will use the phone keypad controller as its replacement, seen on other handsets. We’re sure the challenges presented to them with the likes of the HTC Touch Pro and the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 has made an impact on its design, as both have come out since the last Communicator began shipping.

How it fairs as a Smartphone will be interesting to see, with all those others around scrabbling for a share of the market place now.

It looks an interesting handset, although the screen is holding this hack back who has had a Communicator for about 6 years as a main business phone. Reservations will be there until closer towards the time of release, but it’s looking almost like a possible replacement for the E90.

RumourMill: Windows Mobile 6.5 images leaked + new Internet Explorer for mobiles

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

This time the leak wasn’t Nokia’s, it was Microsoft’s turn with the new mobile OS and also an emulator for IE 6 shows up.

The website Smartphonefrance has managed to obtain the first images of the upcoming OS, first uttered from the lips of Steve Ballmer at an Australian press conference on the tail end of last week.

From first impressions, it looks a lot different to version 6.1 that we’re using today. Other sites have drawn a comparison to the Zune in its appearance. Perhaps Microsoft are again standardising on a single OS view for all operating systems and upcoming releases, it would make sense after all.

We’re now wondering how they’re going to launch the mobile OS. For Windows Mobile 6.1 they announced it to the press on Aprils Fools day at the Comedy Store. I think we’re still waiting to get the joke; what’s the punch line Microsoft?

The other MS story almost falls on the coat tails of the Opera Mini 4.2 beta release, with news of an emulator now being available on Internet Explorer Mobile 6.

It was unveiled to an unsuspecting public at Microsoft’s EMEA TechEd developers conference in Spain.

Improvements have apparently been made around feature sets such as, text wrap, adobe flash integration, touch screen support, zoom levels and others too.

We couldn’t really get a complete feel for how it’s changed, as we didn’t have access to a previous emulator, which made it difficult to fairly gauge on the improvements.

Although it does look like an improvement as to what we’ve seen on current shipping handsets, with a much dated version of IE.

RumourMill: Nokia’s FULL line up for the future leaked

Monday, November 10th, 2008

With the mobile industry appearing to have more leaks than the Welsh rugby supporters at the weekend’s international game, Nokia has come out and trumped them all.

It appears the entire Nokia hush-hush-ever-so-secret product line up from now until the end of days has been leaked to the website Engadget.com

There are just so so many to go in to, it’s a feast for your eyes and something to keep your mouths watering until they find their way into your grubby little hands.

Choice items that made us drool like a premiership football player taking an IQ test are as follows –

Codenamed Eitri, running version 5.0.1 of the OS - Landscape candybar with QWERTY, 3.5-inch 640×350 display, minimum 8GB ROM, microSD, pressure sensitive touch UI with tactile feedback and gestures, charging via USB, 5MP AF camera with dual LED flash, integrated compass and accelerometer, proximity sensor, FM transmitter.

It’s still in development according to the chart. Could this be the replacement for the E90 we’ve been waiting for?

Code nameed Ivalo, running 5.0 of the OS - Follow-on to IP08. 3.5-inch wide touchscreen, 32GB ROM, AGPS, FM transmitter and receiver, 5MP camera, WiFi, TV-out, Bluetooth

That’s right, a touch screen with 32GB. Sorry Apple, have you gone a bit quiet over there, speak up old chap.

Codenamed Corolla, running again 5.0.1 of the OS - 3.0-inch VGA display, non-touch, 8MP camera, half QWERTY keyboard, 128MB RAM, 8GB ROM, WiFI, UPnP, HSPA, AGPS, FM transmitter.

Could this be Nokia’s first ever 8 megapixel camera phone, the one arriving to the party rather late?

Codenamed Surfer, running 3.2 of the OS - Landscape, 2.6-inch QVGA, QWERTY, GPS, NaviWheel, 5MP camera, DVB-H, quadband GSM, HSDPA, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0.

This one appears to have been completed, judging by the chart on the website. Wahoo!

Dive over to the site for more goodies, but these are the ones we’ve found of unsubstantiated interest so far.

Visit the page directly here, enjoy.
