Truphone launches N80 internet edition

Link: Truphone press office

Truphone provisions the Nokia N80 Internet Edition’s native VoIP application to use Truphone’s VoIP service. Truphone is available for free, either ‘over the air’ or via download from the Truphone website, www.truphone.com.

There’s a lot happening at Truphone Towers this week — they’ve just announced support for the N80. I know quite a lot of people who’ve been waiting for this!

Visit www.truphone.com for more details.

  1. hey, am lovin’ the whole farmyard thing. “who are truphone?”. “oh they are the cool new mobile startup that live on a farm and make cheese”. “cooooool”.

“but what do they do?”. “erm, something about cheap phone calls from your mobile, free sometimes too”. “cooooool. so how does it work? how do I get it”. “erm, well, erm…..”.

I think you’ve got a great idea guys. I am seriously worried though that your website and overall presentation is man-in-the-street-unfriendly. I just showed somebody here who is not in the game and…well they just don’t understand what it really is and more importantly how to get it in simple parent-proof 1, 2, 3 steps. get that part of it right and wow, this could be big!!

  2. Right, after a little DIY surgery* on my N80 I’ve installed the N80ie Truphone client. So far so good, I’ve called both ways and delay and quality seems good.

Got a real world test tomorrow as I’ll be in meetings all day at a location that has free Wifi, will report back on how I get on with Truphone whilst out and about.

(* Not to be recommended for the faint hearted, or those that would like a working N80 at the end of it and not just an expensive door stop)
