Carphone Warehouse: CHANGE YOUR NAME

I think that’s it. That’ll do it. I’ve had enough.

Carphone Warehouse is just about the STUPIDEST name going.

I understand there’s a lot of brand equity in it.

But I also think it’s about time to change. They’ve got sufficient goodwill and brand strength to do it. Drop a few million quid, willya, and sort it out.

It’s the equivalent of me starting a company in 1987 called 500 MEG HARD DISK COMPUTERS.

Or 640K COMPUTERS.

Or the equivalent of Ford Motor Company calling itself HORSE DRAWN CART INC., assuming of course, that they started making horse drawn carts, right? 😉

You evolve.

You change your name.

You’re not a sodding CARPHONE WAREHOUSE.

I have created an SMS Text News Manifesto and added this right at the top. What else do you think needs to go on the Manifesto?

  1. Well I think that’s a semi fair point Heavy, as I don’t just do SMS nowadays however I reckon the name is broadly representative of what I do!
