Within hours of accepting pre-orders for the iPhone 3G the O2 site is already reporting that the 16GB Black version is unavailable. But where was the white one?
As we saw in Steve Jobs’ keynote, buyers of the 16GB iPhone 3G were supposedly going to get to choose black or white finishes and in episode 12 of the podcast Ben asked “Which iPhone? black or white?”.
It seems that O2 has made Ben’s decision for him by choosing to initially offer only the black iPhone 3G. An O2 spokeswoman confirmed that they will be carrying the white 16GB iPhone 3G but that it wouldn’t be available for launch and there was no confirmed date for it’s arrival. She went on to explain that they had split their stock between online sales and in-store sales so there will be stock of 16GB models available from O2 stores at 8:02am on Friday.
How can it be sold out…..? The flippin' store has been down all day!!! I started the process as 8:05 and it failed even before I could get my details entered…
Or is it just that I'm an upgrader and the new customers have been prioritised… bah!
Livid.
It is! What a con.
The upgrade store is stone dead, whilst the standard online shop is up and happy.

“Unfortunately it meant the site went down temporarily and we're working to restore it.”
Temporarily??? Has anyone actually managed to upgrade?
