Got any ideas for fashion store, GAP, on what they should be doing with the iPhone?
They’d like to hear from you.
So much so, they’ve engaged appstore analytics company, Mobclix, to manage a competition to source the best application ideas that the planet can muster (So reports Mobile Marketer).
The grand prize offers the following:
* GAP’s iPhone App
* Cash prize from a Silicon Valley VC
* Private pitch to a tier one VC
* $1,000 Gap gift card
* Free advertising package from Mobclix
I suspect the first point means that if you win, you get to be… well, be the developer of Gap’s app. Even though you’ve already made it to enter into the competition. Still, the kudos could be rather useful, especially if you’d like to use that as a launchpad to get the attention of other retailers.
I suspect it will also get you the ear of the relevant Gap marketing executives for their next campaign.
If you’re feeling creative, head over to the Mobclix Gap Contest page and sign-up.
Let me know how you get on, too.
You could probably do some pretty nifty work on building a decent iPhone app catalogue. That would be rather cool.
I tell you what I’d like to see.
I’d like to see a model wearing a random selection of clothing items right? Then I’d like to be able to shake the iPhone and have the clothes fly all over the place and then another configuration of clothes appear on the model. So you can check out different ‘looks’ by shaking.
Well, I thought it’d be cool.
That said, I thought it was pretty cool to wear Nike trainers until my wife explained otherwise.

The GAP is too lazy to come up with their own idea for an iPhone app. http://bit.ly/3CiseY

You saw 'Clueless' right? (basically Jane Austen's Emma retold in high school). Near the beginning, Alicia Silverstone uses some computer app to plan and coordinate her daily outfit. You basically just reinvented that for the iPhone!
I'd like to be able to point at an article of clothing and have it select other pieces that went with whatever I just took a picture of. That would rock for shopping. Imagine being at some other store, seeing something you like, then clicking it. All of a sudden you have filled out the rest of the outfit, all from Gap/BR/Old Navy. That would be shopping power.
I’d buy that!
