I’m getting good feedback from a lot of people who’ve popped down to their 3UK store and purchased one of the 3UK MiFI units. One of which is Liam Westley (one of the most knowledgeable and capable ultra-geeks I know). Liam is really delighted:
So, what are my first impressions? This is a fantastic device; it’s incredibly simple, easy to use and just … well, works.
You can read his whole experience here:
Three MiFi (Huawei E5830) 3G and WiFi access point all in one, first impressions.
As Liam points out, you the device is available PAYG for £99, or £69 on a £15/month contract.
This week 3UK announced that the MiFi unit is also available on an 18-month contract for just £39 and then £12/month (1GB data/month) or £17/month for 5GB of data. Nice.

I'm afraid I'm a bit of a Novatel MiFi cheerleader (though I don't have the pompoms for it), but the pricing for the Huawei does look good.

Aye I'm enjoying the Novatel test unit experience Chris… but I keep admiring the 3UK unit!
The Novatel experience as it stands is great (plus I like how any WiFi-connected device can access its microSD card, unlike with the Huawei) but it's their future plans that have me more excited. The Huawei will only ever be a way of sharing 3G with a handful of WiFi devices, but the Novatel is a standalone device in its own right, a platform with an apps processor, memory and an API. Early days for developers, I know, but it doesn't take a huge amount of imagination to come up with some tempting scenarios involving an always-connected mobile device that can act as a mini personal server.
or if like me and your original 3 dongle is coming to an end, you can get the mifi for free, and 3gb for 9.50 a month..which is a pretty darn good deal.
I'm like you! I'll phone them and ask about this!
I just upgraded. £11.74 for 15GB of data for 18 months. Not too bad!

Verizon's third Android phone to have MiFi capability. Seriously, it will have the ability to act as a MiFi wireless router, according to an Unstrung report. Verizon says the device will be available early next year.
Very timely!

My only issue with handset integrated MiFi, Giff, is that I don't want to see my handset battery impacted significantly — it's rubbish enough as it is!

Ok,
The 3Uk MiFi is great. I live in Ireland, and after O2 wouldn't sell me a replacement SIM card for their PAYG mobile broadband, I wandered in to 3.
Looked at the offer they had, and thought why not?
It is great to be able to wander around and have data access over my iPhone and not get ripped a new one: http://tinyurl.com/lv7ed5 as well as having laptop access.
And hey, I'll try and use all 3GB in 3 days!
Phil
WiFi keeps switching off after some hours of use. No apparent setting or reason. Each morning I have to press the WiFI connect button before I can use it
Great product and now using it to connect to internet radio in my car.Status lights on the Three MiFi can be misleading but certainly makes dongles redundant.
