CrackBerry’s Kevin Michaluk is talking at DevCon

I’ve done quite a bit of work with the CrackBerry.com team over the years. I particularly enjoyed following the site’s founder Kevin around with the camera as he performs a walk-about of the show floors — along the lines of the Martin Brundle pit-lane-walkabouts (if you’re a Formula 1 fan).

I was just browsing the DevCon schedule and saw that the man himself is presenting this year. What a super idea!

Kevin is speaking on the subject of engagement — specifically, explaining how app developers can capture the editorial attention of the likes of CrackBerry and develop a following of loyal users.

Here’s the abstract:

There are many opportunities to leverage bloggers and social media to increase an app’s success at low cost. Do you know how to take advantage of these channels for promotion? This session is a chance to get the tips first-hand from one of the experts in the field — Kevin Michaluk, founder of CrackBerry.com. Find out why getting your app announced and reviewed is only the beginning of the promotional process.

It’s a brilliant, brilliant idea. I really don’t know why more events don’t do something like this as I’m sure the topic will of be direct interest to many participants.

If you’re looking for the back story on CrackBerry, it’s all here. And, while I’m at it, I’d still like to see Kevin ascend to the RIM board.
