DEMO Europe: SimplyCeph shows powerful medical iPad app

Demo EuropeMobile Industry Review is reporting live from DEMO Europe being held in Moscow – the start-up pitching event that launched names as big as TiVO, Skype for mobile, Salesforce and Shazam.

View all the coverage.

I’m not sure how many orthodontists read Mobile Industry Review (if you’re out there, comment below!) but you don’t need to be a medical professional to to appreciate the ambition of SimplyCeph – a mobile and web-based service to manage patient records and design dental treatments. The tool speeds-up data capture during patient consultations but – as impressively demonstrated during their pitch – also allows treatments to be designed using photo imagery of patients and 3D models of the mouth.

SimplyCephThe touch interface allows orthodontic treatment to be measured, designed and previewed live on-screen. The tool reduces the number of inputs required by the orthodontist, extrapolating curves from a small number of points and allowing 3D models of the mouth to be rotated, evaluated and for the effect of treatment to be viewed over time.

Patient imagery, 3D models and measurements can then be tracked using the application to monitor the effectiveness of treatment.

Although a version of the app is available for free, the full service costs $800 through the Apple App Store – a demonstration that this firm, at least, see the iPad as a suitable platform for specialist high-value tools.
