Revolut Mobile is coming to the UK & Germany
Ever since Revolut Ultra, the bank's top subscription package has been available, I've been a subscriber. I think it's brilliant – and I'm a particularly keen user of their 3GB inclusive global data roaming eSIM service.
In today's world, the requirement to have a yet another relationship with a mobile operator that is literally providing you commoditised data access is questionable.
The vast majority of the dinosaur-minded mobile operators out there are still selling minutes and texts.
Still. We're almost half way through 2025 and still, I'm having to 'select' a package.
I've long been a believer that banks should simply incorporate mobile services into their standard packages. I wrote about this years ago. A lot of people thought I was utterly nuts.
My argument was this: Banking is sticky. You tend to keep your accounts for a while. So it makes sense to ally this with other similar stick services – like connectivity. I don't want to have to think about extra stuff like mobile accounts and managing a relationship with a vendor that is literally just a data pipe to me. Through their own irrelevance, most operators have become commodities. So, bank, manage that for me. You buy it from Telefonica or Vodafone or whoever gives the best deals. You manage the logistics with them. Just give me the service and charge me accordingly.
And now here we are: Revolut, one of the bleeding-edge digital banks on the planet, is shortly coming to market with their eSIM package.
Their Executive in charge of Product and "New Bets" + Head of Telco (love the title), Hadi Nasrallah, posted the following today on his LinkedIn:
Revolut Mobile is coming! We are announcing today UK & Germany, with more countries coming soon.
The offering will be simple, a single plan in each country (waitlist links at the bottom) ::

🇩🇪 - unlimited local data/calls/sms + 40gb EU roaming => join the waitlist for €12.5/month
