ShoZu break their silence on Android support

After I published my post about ShoZu, Pixelpipe and Android last night, I dropped a note over to ShoZu‘s Jennifer Grenz and asked her if she could give me a response to my burning issue!

Here we go…

Ewan: ShoZu’s absence from the Android platform has been really frustrating me; when will ShoZu be available for Android devices?

ShoZu: “We certainly haven’t been ignoring Android by any means. We believe strongly in Android but its market share is still rather modest, so it’s a question of when the timing will be right for us.

“I can tell you that from a tech perspective, we’ve been waiting for two key elements before diving in on Android:

– “First is the more robust set of APIs from Android that are now becoming available so we can build an experience that is as complete as our iPhone experience.

– “Second is the next generation of Android devices that are now just coming to market.

“Based on what we’ve seen with the uptake of the G1, we felt it was better to wait and build a better offering than to put resources behind something for a market that wasn’t just there yet.

Fair point, fair point. But when the Sony Ericsson 12 megapixel Android monsters hit the marketplace, I’d really like to be ShoZuing the media!
