Vodafone launches in-store Fix & Go service

VodafoneThree announced this week that they've launched Fix & Go services in 5 Vodafone stores.
So if you need a new screen or a new battery, you can pop down to the Vodafone store and get it sorted, safe in the knowledge that modifications are being done by a reputable firm.
Right now, it's only available in 5 key stores (White City London, London Stratford, Oxford Street London, the Princes Street store in Edinburgh, and the St David’s Centre store in Cardiff). A further 18 stores will get this capability later on in the year.
You don't need to be a Vodafone customer to use the service and they'll offer support for Apple, Samsung and Google devices to begin with.
Here are some typical 'from' prices:
- £39.00 for a charging port replacement
- £99.00 for a back glass replacement
- £49.00 for a battery replacement
- £49.00 for a camera lens replacement
- £119.00 for a screen replacement
Although if you've got a bleeding edge top of the range device, expect this the actual fee to reflect this.
It's a brilliant idea
Well done VodafoneThree. This is a really smart idea.
First, you've already got a huge high street presence and this is a great way of leveraging that existing cost and infrastructure.
Second, you bring a level of comfort, convenience and trust to a segment that is generally restricted to the slightly dodgy 'fix it' shops where the quality is highly variable.
Third, it's always good to get customers – whether they're Vodafone subscribers or not – into the store.
Upgrade path
I would encourage the sales teams to evaluate the possibility of completing the requested repair and then helping customers understand their options to upgrade. For example, "Now your iPhone is repaired, did you know, we'd offer you £220 for your phone if you upgrade with us within the next 30 days. And get your repair fee back in credit if you upgrade today."
Something like that. If the individual is half interested in updating their device by repairing it, they might be in the right mindset to go all the way!
Anyway, excellent service addition, VodafoneThree and good luck!
Below, I've appended the full press release:
Brits can get a broken phone fixed at one of five Vodafone stores from today – as the telecoms giant launches a new same-day repair service.
Vodafone is rolling out its new Fix & Go service at stores in London, Edinburgh and Cardiff on Monday, July 14.
The new service allows mobile users of any network, as well as those with out-of-warranty handsets, to pop in for help fixing their phone.
Owners of Samsung, Apple or Google handsets will be able to get them fixed in store, taking as little as two hours.**
Today’s launch includes White City, London Stratford, Oxford Street branches in London, the Princes Street store in Edinburgh, and the St David’s Centre store in Cardiff – before the service is expanded to 18 stores later this year.*
The service offers consumers an affordable and reliable way to get their handset fixed by Vodafone repair specialists in store.
Prices start from £39.00 for a charging port replacement, or £49.00 for a battery replacement.***
To keep devices protected, any parts replaced will be covered by a new warranty with Vodafone.
For many, handset repairs can be inconvenient, expensive or difficult to access. In fact, consumer research found that the most common concerns for consumers in getting their mobile devices repaired are time without a phone (56%) and extra costs (53%).****
VodafoneThree is partnering with Fonehouse, which will provide Vodafone repair specialists with the necessary training to carry out any repairs quickly and to the highest standard, as well as the online booking tool and equipment needed to undertake repairs in store.
The introduction of in-store repairs marks VodafoneThree’s first step towards expanding stores into service hubs, as well as a place people can get great deals on devices and accessories. As the use of physical stores evolves, VodafoneThree is reaffirming its commitment to the UK high street – all while delivering excellent customer experience.
Jon Shaw, Consumer Operations Director, VodafoneThree, said: “We’re really excited to launch Fix & Go by Vodafone in stores. This trial is a key milestone in our journey to become number one for customer experience and provides exceptional value just weeks after the creation of VodafoneThree.
“We are committed to maintaining a significant presence on the high street so we can meet our customers’ needs. Over time that need has evolved from purely being a place to buy handsets and accessories to a place where people ask for service and device support.
“Repairs, in particular, have been difficult or inconvenient for many people to access, but Fix & Go by Vodafone removes these barriers.”
