GigaOm launches subscription-only service

Om Malik and his smart chaps over at the GigaOm Network have launched GigaOm Pro — their subscription-only service. (Check out Om’s post).

I think it’s a smart move for GigaOm and I shall most definitely be subscribing.

This is of particular interest and significance given the fact we took Mobile Industry Review subscription-only back at the end of March. Although our subscription charges of £1,000 a month (mandated by our chief subscriber), are rather huge compared to GigaOm Pro’s $79/year fee. Indeed the initial arrangement has morphed rather unexpectedly to the point that, as per the update recently, I find myself with full rights to Mobile Industry Review. That’s why it’s still up, why it’s still live, why I’m still publishing content now and again.

I’m rather curious as to the possibilities of setting up a Mobile Industry Review Pro along the lines of what Om’s launching and set the price at a low £55 per year, for example.

I think I’d rather keep MIR entirely free here but without a direct service level.

Anyway, good luck Om and I look forward to chatting with you about this in San Francisco soon!
