News: Bitdefender Mobile Security launches Snap Photo to stop snoopers and Smart Unlock

Mobile Security

Mobile security has never been more important. Every week there seem to be new reports of vulnerabilities in our smartphone operating systems, and the issues of privacy and online security are a hot topic at the moment.

So what can you do to stay safe on your mobile device? Aside from obvious things such as avoiding questionable websites, and ensuring that you only install apps from trusted sources, many people turn to security products.

Google’s Android operating system in particular has a reputation for being a target for hackers and malware (although no operating system is truly secure), but products are available that aim to protect your device and more importantly your information from all kinds of electronic threats.

And in 2015, a disturbing new trend emerged: for the first time ever, mobile financial threats rank among the top ten malicious programs designed to steal money, according to Kaspersky Lab, meaning that users have to be more vigilant than ever. Furthermore, Avast believes that mutating mobile malware (a new super intelligent family of malware that can alter its internal structure) will be a growing threat on the horizon for 2016.

Bitdefender Mobile Security & Antivirus

Bitdefender has upgraded its award-winning Bitdefender Mobile Security & Antivirus by giving it the power to photograph snoops and thieves in the act and allowing users to access apps when on a trusted network effortlessly.

Bitdefender, the innovative security solutions provider, has upgraded its award-winning Bitdefender Mobile Security & Antivirus by giving it the power to photograph snoops and thieves in the act and allowing users to access apps when on a trusted network effortlessly.

The new Snap Photo feature allows smartphones to automatically take a mugshot of anybody trying to access a device without the PIN numbers, gaining the snoop’s identity as well as the time and date of the failed access.

Smart Unlock, meanwhile, makes users’ lives simpler by disabling PIN codes when connected to a trusted network, such as at home, eliminating a cumbersome step currently needed to access applications.

“We approached this latest upgrade to Bitdefender Mobile Security with the intention of further enhancing its strongest features – ironclad security and seamless ease of use”, states Catalin Cosoi, Chief Security Strategist at Bitdefender. “The world’s strongest and most user-friendly mobile security software is now even stronger and friendlier”.

Bitdefender 2Smart Unlock and Snap Photo add to an already powerful array of capabilities in Bitdefender Mobile Security, such as Privacy Advisor, which highlights how apps handle users’ privacy, App Lock, which allows device owners to decide who can access private information and, of course, the world’s best antivirus, rated Best Protection by independent analysis firm AV-TEST in September 2015.

The New Bitdefender Mobile Security maintains the ultra-low battery impact that has been a cornerstone of the company’s software for mobile devices since it was first created, meaning it has virtually no effect on battery life.

The sleek interface also makes it easier for users to enjoy features such as the remote-locking Anti-Theft, WearON that works with a smart watch to make a phone scream when it’s out of sight, and Web Security that ensures safe browsing.

Bitdefender’s Mobile Security & Antivrius can be found on the Google Play Store and costs £9.95 for UK users.
