I popped into the Covent Garden Apple Store this evening to buy a new MacBook Pro laptop. I decided to buy there-and-then because I needed the utility. I wanted the machine immediately rather than waiting. It turns out that this is perhaps the wrong approach for me because I really don’t enjoy the standard experience. […]

It is a seriously annoying experience trying to transact business in an Apple Store nowadays, especially when you’re in there at peak time. At 8pm today I tried to buy an iPad Mini, Mophie juice charger and another iPad Mini or full-size iPad. I hadn’t made my decision. I’d decided on the Mini and the […]

I have thoroughly enjoyed the past two seasons of The Walking Dead zombie apocalypse, both via iTunes. I think I bought the first season from iTunes UK and then bought the second one via the US iTunes store. I just couldn’t wait… and actually, I think it might have been slightly cheaper as the exchange […]

I’ve had a US iTunes account for quite a while now. It’s been thoroughly useful across the years when I’ve needed to test out an app or service that’s only available in the United States app store. One of the benefits of having an account is that you can also purchase other content — not […]

This afternoon I needed to buy a decent tripod for the video camera. I left the old-old tripod in some hotel, somewhere on the planet — deliberately, as it was getting too clunky and too annoying. I bought a new one but negated to recognise that it didn’t work very well for stand-up interviewing. It […]
Caught this piece in The Telegraph about Apple’s ‘dominance’ over Microsoft (i.e. they’ve got a bigger share valuation). Toward the end, the piece explains that Apple is due to launch a new flagship store in Covent Garden. That’s going to be interesting to check-out. I’ve long admired how they do things at their Regent Street […]
Come on! Mobile Industry Review is now live on the Ovi Store! Woo! Last week I sat down for 20 minutes and created an Ovi Store application for Mobile Industry Review. It allows you to browse the MIR feed and the Mobile Developer TV youtube feed. I did this using the all new Ovi App […]
Tomorrow I’m giving a talk at TechCrunch Europe’s GeeknRolla event on the subject of getting big fast in mobile. One of the companies I’ll be looking at is Nokia. I most definitely understand and empathise with the pained expressions I witness whenever I mention the company to mobile developers, however the company’s size and handset […]
Why the Ovi Store is still total bollocks
Yes I’m a fan. A big Nokia fan. Using my new N86 I’ve been thoroughly enjoying the background-processing abilities with the likes of Nimbuzz running along with Google Maps, ShoZu and so on. The camera is, of course, brilliant, too. But the Ovi Store? Oh dear. Here’s just one indication why it’s struggling.
Nokia Video Store coming soon?
Dan over at World of Nokia picked this one up — along with some screenshots of both the video store and what appears to be a nice new fancy Nokia 5900 device. With the rumor just posted of a possible Nokia 5900, World of Nokia now has some screenshots from that same video which appear […]
