Telfort goes live with SmartTrust configuration

Telfort Netherlands has gone live with an Automatic Device Configuration platform from SmartTrust that will allow it to automatically detect handsets on its network and configure them over-the-air (OTA) with the necessary settings for services such as MMS and WAP. Based on SmartTrust’s SmartManage(tm) solution, the mobile operator has removed the complexity of device configuration for subscribers, delivering first-time every-time access to its portfolio of data services.

SmartManage is able to automatically detect new handsets on the GSM network, remotely assess their capabilities and existing configuration and, where necessary, provision them OTA with the correct service settings. The system also serves inbound requests from subscribers contacting Telfort’s customer care department, a web-based self care portal and SMS requests. Using SmartManage’s Batch Update facility, the operator is also able to provision multiple handsets with new service settings simultaneously.

I was incredulous when I read about this yesterday — I thought Telfort still wasn’t shipping properly enabled devices!  This SmartTrust service looks rather smart.
