So there’s a slight hitch to my bring-it-on-Three plan. I am swapping to Three. Three will be my network of choice.
I actually downloaded Google Maps to my N73 whilst whizzing along the M3 at exactly 70mph the other day. I wasn’t doing the driving, obviously. But it downloaded in ultra smart, ultra fast, ultra quick record time. It should in that M3 corridor anyway. But I tell you, Three and data. Smart.
And they’re ultra shit hot when it comes to making sure you can transmit a 4k voice call without having to resort to RabbitPower®.
I swapped over to Three on Saturday and was about to do a huge blog about how wickedly impressed I was…………………….
……..when I completed installing Good Mobile Messaging on the E61 and got this error message:
Sorry, Good is not compatible with the Three network
Or, if I can remember correctly, I think it might have been ‘Three is not compatible with Good’.
Now, this was true. Do you remember back to the heady summer months of last year, when I was going nuts with my totally restrictive Three internet access? You could only view the sites they specified and so on? Well. That’s obviously no more — particularly for X-Series users such as myself.
But it seems that Good hasn’t updated their application to take account of this, I don’t think.
I’ve emailed them to ask. I emailed a chap there by the name of Mike. Let’s see if he responds.
So without Good Mobile Messaging, I just canny do it. Just canny do it captinnnnn. I hope to have this resolved shortly so I can be 100% Three.
Meantime I’m using my Three N73 to make my important calls.
Next question: To port, or not to port? I wonder.
Glad to hear you’re enjoying the X-Series benefits, Ewan. I’ve been on it since almost day one and I’m very pleased I did so. When I travel away from the office, but without the intent of working unless something arises, I just take my N73 and a bluetooth keyboard (as long as I’ve got email and Orb to reach my home machine I’m generally fine). Better than lugging the laptop everywhere.
I am using the Mobile Mail app that comes with X-Series, but I’ll follow your Good MM attempts with interest, because Mobile Mail has its shortcomings.
Are you planning to try running all the X-Series apps on your E61i? I’d be fascinated to know if it’s a goer…
If you travel a lot, Three shouldn’t be your network of choice. They do not deliver all messages while you are out of the UK – messages you’ve sent or messages that you should be receiving… I know someone that didn’t receive any of the messages of potential business contacts in Barcelona because of his 3 contract.
