AlarmWatch Uses SMS To Keep You Informed

phone_22_02_05
Hanwell Instruments has put together a new product called AlarmWatch, which uses GSM modems to shoot off SMS messages when the alarm is triggered. The service features 4 contact inputs and can store up to 8 telephone numbers. AlarmWatch is best used for things such as a tank level alarm or system failures. Once the alarm is triggered, the system will send an SMS to the first number programmed in. It then awaits a response, and if none is received, moves on to the next number, so on and so forth until it receives a response. Users are able to specify how long it should wait for a response, and each message contains the alarm number, information, and site name.

I know you’re thinking, ‘But the problem I most have with my GSM handset is that it freezes up sometimes. How does this work in that situation?’ Easy – the AlarmWatch features a watchdog that will reboot the modem if there’s a network issue, solving the majority of connection problems.

Sounds like they thought of everything, and came up with pretty nifty way to receive quick notifications of alarms.
